I love Saturdays. I wake up happy, partially because I’ve slept in, and partially because I feel like I can get up and done anything I want with my day. There are no pressing needs. I don’t have to work. I can do whatever I want. Today, that consisted of watching another episode of Doctor Who (awesome!) and then… writing this post. I don’t know what I’ll do next, but I love the possibilities.

Last night Kate and I went to The Vault to help celebrate a friend’s birthday. I was the designated driver and it was pretty fun. I was a little disappointed because my friends weren’t funny. I mean they were sober funny, but not drunk funny. I guess I’ve been spoiled by friends who have gotten drunk and tried to call “The Man in the Moon.” Overall, it was a great time. I got to see good friends and have some soda. Next time though we’re going to be calling someone on the moon.

The first episode of the new season of Doctor Who has come and gone, and I’m happy to say that it was much better than the silly Titanic Christmas episode. There was a new alien race introduced called the Antipose, which are a composed of fat. They look like the droppings of the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. The Doctor also meets up with his new companion named Donna. I like her. She’s not the best looking of the Doctor’s companions, but she’s got spunk and likes to pull the Doctor around by his arm. It looks like the Doctor is not the only one leading the group this time.

Rose, or at least her ghostly self, shows up at the end. Personally, I’ve missed her. As much as I liked Martha and as much as I think I will enjoy Donna, I have a soft spot in my heart for good, ol’ Rose.

All in all, it’s an exciting beginning to another good season of Doctor Who.

Kate and I have been working on getting approved for a loan for a house this week. We tentatively are approved for a loan that would let us get a $2600 a month mortgage house. We’re both excited. Tonight we’re going to go over our finances and see what kind of house payment we think we can afford. Keep us in your thoughts as we debate the costs, but thank you for all the prayers already said as we are pretty well off, all things considered.

Kate and I are currently watching Sweeney Todd with Johnny Depp. During the opening credits I had to stop eating the Vanilla Wafers I was snacking on. Jenny Craig move over, the real dietary cure is watching Sweeney Todd!

So, Kate and I went to Disneyland yesterday with the choir from school. Like we’ve done many times before, we went on The Haunted Mansion. During our ride we rode our “Doom Buggie” into a room that I didn’t recognize. I heard the heartbeat though, and I figured that the bride would be showing up soon. No big. There were pictures of the bride with her groom. Or I should say grooms, and the grooms heads would disappear after a short amount of time. Kate was cuddled up to me, but I was kind of starting to get uncomfortable. The hairs on my neck were at attention. Then we turn the corner. The bride was standing there saying what millions of brides have before, “I do.” Then as she repeats this she gets this wicked smile on her face and brandishes a small hatchet. I about crapped my pants. This new “devil Disney” is scary!

One of the video game websites I visit had this great April Fool’s joke. They worked with an independent movie company to produce a Legend of Zelda trailer for a fictional motion picture. It’s actually really well made and kind of makes me want an actual movie. But, for God’s sake get rid of the green stocking cap! Link looks like he’s constantly on his way to bed for Pete’s sake!

 I’m posting from a bed and breakfast in Seattle. Kate and I are here celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary (albiet, a week late). We had travel vouchers from Southwest Airlines, so the flight only cost us about $30. So far, a pretty cheap trip. Yesterday, we walked like mindless automatons through the streets of the city before figure out that there’s about half of it with nothing of real interest (except the hobos) and another half that has the Space Needle and tons of shopping. Who knew? Today, we’re going to be going to the Space Needle and then we’re going to go to Fisherman’s Wharf, which we went to yesterday, but it’s really a place that you need several hours to explore. It’s like one of the dungeons from The Legend of Zelda. You wander around looking for something that interests you, then you see stairs. And you don’t know if you need anything that is down those stairs, there could be a monster, but you go check it out anyways. Then you turn around because there was a horrible crap monster down there. Rinse, repeat, until you find that treasure that you were looking for, which might also only be the exit of the infernal maze. Yeah, like Zelda. Damn, I forgot to pack my boomerang and green hat!

Tomorrow will be the 3rd year anniversary of Kate and mine’s wedding day. It doesn’t seem like it’s been 3 years, but I have cherished all the rich and fun moments as well as all the crappy, frustrating ones that make me want to tear my ears off and feed them to our dog (more on that later). Here’s to 3 years and many more. Raise a glass of virtual grog and celebrate with us!
